SHAA Web Site Privacy Policy

The Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama (SHAA) is an independent, non-profit organization. This serves as the privacy statement for SHAA which also applies to its website, www.AlabamaSHAA.com. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact SHAA’s Executive Board or SHAA’s Executive Director at (205) 873-6667 or admin@alabamashaa.com.

Information Collection and Use; Protection of E-Mail Addresses
Some areas of the SHAA web site are publicly available. Other areas are restricted or made available based on the personal identifying information (such as name, e-mail address, membership level, username and password), should the person choose to become a member or become affiliated with SHAA (such as to view CELL
materials). SHAA is the sole owner of all the information collected on the SHAA web site and may use and share with third parties any and all of the information collected in any manner whatsoever that it deems appropriate for business purposes in its sole discretion.

Security, Including for Online Payments
All pages on the SHAA web site are “secure,” and information entered on the web site is encrypted and is protected with encryption software, Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL"). SHAA requests contact information from its users, including billing information, but sensitive information such as credit card numbers are not available to
SHAA and are not retained on SHAA’s web site. (SHAA only sees the last four digits of card numbers.)

Cookies
The SHAA website uses computer cookies for several business purposes. Primarily, when visitors arrive at our site, a unique cookie is automatically stored on the visitor's computer by their Internet browser that allows analysis software to differentiate between new and returning users. This cookie is set to expire fairly quickly.

Links
SHAA provides links to advertisers' web sites and other sites of interest in hopes that you will find valuable resources there. While our advertisers have interests related to the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology, SHAA cannot be held responsible for the information or content found on their sites, for
advertisements they may contain, or for any requests they might make for personal information.  You may find the links unavailable at times, and you might even be redirected to an unexpected web site. Please understand that SHAA cannot control these events.

Communication from SHAA
SHAA sends all new members a welcoming e-mail to verify password and username. SHAA occasionally sends email notifications re: research being conducted, continuing education opportunities and other professional matters. SHAA will also send reminders of renewals and other communications to members via e-mail. SHAA, at its sole discretion, also sends mailings related to its annual convention and other materials of its choosing, such as a newsletter or membership directory.

Correcting/Updating Personal Information
Users have control of all the information they have submitted on the SHAA web site. Users are encouraged to keep this information up to date – especially their email addresses, as this is a primary communication tool for SHAA. Changes can also be submitted via email to admin@alabama.com, or by phone (205) 873-6667.

Notification of Changes
If SHAA decides to change this privacy policy, we will post a notice on SHAA’s home page and will send a related email to current SHAA members.
